| Born in 1964, I studied medicine, became an ophthalmologist and currently work at the University of Basel. During the course of my studies and my medical life, I continued to improve my artistic abilities as a painter. In 1989 I took a semester course in watercolour at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. 1996-1997 I studied free painting with Helen Stanley at San Francisco City College, USA, and until 2003 with Heinz Ginkel in Homburg, Germany. In addition I studied public installations with Alfredo Jaar during the Summer Art Academy in Salzburg, 2002. While I started with watercolours, I continued with oil paintings and acryllics. Currently I have revived the watercolours and discovered Tempura (nontoxic) which enables me to paint together with my 2 year old son Felix, who is getting to be quite good at it (see picture 16). |
