I only started on this career of photojournalism a year and a half ago and my images have been used on web sites run by the organizers of the venues. I have often been invited by organizers to take images and am now an official photographer for one venue in Brixton (see www.clockworkprism.co.uk). I also design interiors and furniture, but hope to go into light display designs for parties and venues. I would love to learn how to create hologramatic art that could be used in the same way as light projection is currently used.
The images I take, using a canon ixus digital camera, are long exposure, of moving light and of other peoples ultra violet art. Often I combine both of these to create the most abstract of my images. I enjoy taking images that are naturally abstract; they are only occasionally digitally manipulated, and not to any great degree. So they are just as they appear. I generally take them at parties in London of people performing with poi (a New Zealand tradition) and staff that light up. These are what the artists call fluoro displays. I feel that my images capture the emotional expression of the artist performing to music at that moment in time. The artists and I discuss the images so that both them and I have instant feed back on our work, deciding where things can be improved or where things work well. I also use filters made from various bits and pieces that I find or acquire. I have also just started to experimenting with the addition and abstraction of colour. images ©copyright Welshpixie 1777
